About Dr. Marion Herring
An athlete serving athletes, Dr. Marion "Moose" Herring is fellowship-trained in shoulder surgery and sports medicine. This fellowship is an extra year of training where he trained under world-renowned surgeons at Duke University.
Dr. Herring specializes in shoulder replacement, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, acl reconstruction, and meniscal repair.
He has a special interest in reverse total shoulder replacement, anatomic total shoulder replacement, and stemless shoulder replacement. Dr. Herring is involved with teaching other surgeons about these advanced techniques and implants.
He's one of only 1,200 physicians inducted into the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, is the Chief of Shoulder Surgery at Parham Doctors' Hospital, and was previously a professor at the University of North Carolina.
Dr. Herring continues to train and compete in running and triathlon events, including racing in The Ironman World Championships twice and the Boston Marathon once.
He has been awarded All-American status many times for Triathlon and has raced for Team USA Triathlon on multiple occasions.
